Description: Dodder is a plant whose scientific name is Cuscuta californica. It is yellowish/orange and looks like straw. It is found throughout grassland and chaparral areas. It is a native plant to the San Diego area. According to the research of Elizabeth Windsong, dodder can be used to treat the liver and is high in vitamin C. It makes an excellent tea for urinary organs and helps the memory. The 'Iipay Aa name is haakwal pehaa, which means "lizard's guts." Dodder is considered a parasite. It takes nutrition from other plants and has no roots in the ground.
