Week 6, Heritage Class
 

For the final two weeks of Heritage Class students mounted their dried plant samples. Herbarium standards were followed as they used acid free paper and a neutral pH glue to attach the dried sample to the herbarium sheet. Students included a specimen label (with common name, scientific name, 'Iipay Aa name, location, and traditional uses), and a fragment envelope. Herbarium collections are used in the study of plant taxonomy and in preserving the historical record of flora in geographic locations over time.
