Welcome to the Barona Cultural Center & Museum
Virtual Exhibit - Heritage Project
Week 3, Heritage Class
For the third week of Heritage Class the students were treated to a class on "Drawing in Perspective" by [BEEP]. This program grew out of the Irving J. Gill Foundation Collaboration, which Barona Museum participated with the current exhibition Stones in the Meadow: Irving Gill's Church and Cottages on the Barona Indian Reservation. During the two–hour class students identified the shapes used by Gill in his designs: square, arch, and straight line. They also learned that Gill's design aesthetic was simple, clean, and free of unneeded ornamentation. He saw the decoration for buildings coming from nature, from trees and vines. They concluded the class by learning how to draw to scale and in perspective – using a Gill house as model.
